i have a currently stock 91 cherokee and a 90 parts truck, and am interested in a t-case doubler. in my daily driver i have a np242 (with full time and part time) and in my parts truck a np231, also lying around my place my dads truck thats no longer road worthy (95 dodge ram 1500) possibly has another np231 or either a np231HD or np241(currenly out of country so cant check, but also interesed to know the visualy indictions to know one from the other). im looing for a doubler kit that would mate any of these cases together.

thx for any input

There are several companies that make the kit. One is called Box For Rocks. You can find the kit on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/doubler-crawlbox-NP-231-box4rocks-kit-jeep-Klune-V-/160883132942?hash=item257561ca0e&item=160883132942&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

My daughter is getting ready to purchase a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland it is nicely set up with winch on great bumpers BUT it is all wheel drive with only a setting to 4 low. Can I replace the transfer case with an NP231? Will it affect the computer if so can it be reset\ reprogrammed. I have one from a 95 Cherokee and a 96 1500 Dodge ram both had automatic transmissions. Will eather work or is there something else that could suggest that would work better for a daily driver and some mild off road in Texas.

Yes, you can swap in a NP231. Not sure if the T-case you have will work. You will need to match up the input spline count and stickout to the Grand Cherokee. My gut says neither of the cases you have will work as-is, but you should be able to swap in the correct input gear to either one.
