Hi guys, i have a beautiful F350 Dually 2x4, and i need a 4x4 truck. I would love to keep my truck and convert it to a 4x4. But if it is too much money. I could sale it. But i would do my best to keep my F50. Does anyone knows what i have to do in terms of parts and if it would cost too much to do it? Thanks!

It's usually not cost effective to make the conversion from 2x4 to 4x4. In your case you will need to locate a somewhat desirable Ford Dana 60 solid front axle. This part alone, unrefurbished, will set you back $1,000-$2,000. Rebuilding a worn axle could be as much as another $2,000, depending on the condition of the brakes and bearings. Dont forget to match the front and rear axle ratios. Your truck should already have leaf springs up front so it should bolt in fairly easy but will still require some fabrication for brake lines, shock mounts and so on. You'll need a front driveshaft ($200-$500), a transfer case will need to be added (there are several ways to do this), and you will need to shorten and modify the rear driveshaft. Once you are done with the conversion I would say the cost would be a minimum of $3,000-$5,000, and that's if you can do a lot of the work yourself.
