looking for a selectable locker for my dana 30 cherokee, im interested in ox because they offer cable actuating selectable lockers and i like that for ease of trail fixes compared to elecric and air actating opptions. my larger concern is that dana 30 ARB and Eaton lockers only accept 28,30 and 31 spline opptions, and a friend told me the ox locker will accept a 35 spline shaft? is  this correct and is there anything else i should consider?

thx

There is not a 35-spline OX locker for the Dana 30. The shafts would be far stronger than the rest of the axle so it wouldnt even be a good idea. But there is a 30-sline version that will work well. You will need 30-spline aftermarket axle shafts to complete the conversion.

Yeah, OX is the only cable-operated locker currently available.  I suppose you could modify a TJM but you would have to customize the diff cover.

Even the 30 spline stuff I think is pushing the limits of the D30's smallish ring & pinion gears. I would just leave it with the stock 27 spline, but get shafts with the larger 5-297X u-joints (1.188" caps) if you don't already have them. This way you can easily do a trailside repair with junkyard shafts if ever needed (a sheared ring & pinion gear is not exactly an easy trailside repair lol).

The 27 spline shafts should last no problem with 35" tires as long as you don't just go mashing the throttle any time you start to break traction (instead, gently rock the steering back & forth to try to find traction again and/or find another line up whatever it is you're trying to get up). A few guys make them live with 37s too, though you do have to be quite a bit more careful with them.
