I just got my truck running, I bought it w/o a motor and don't really know much about newer chevy's. The transfer case does not have a knob on the shifter or any shift info. I could not find it in any of my repair manuals, except to say push it all the way forward. Is this a 1 or 2 speed case and what is the shift pattern?

2 speed and its done with a button on the dash.   at least thats what my cousins 98 z71 had.  you can prolly do a posi lock setup and make it work.

I have a feeling you have the np246 transfer case.  As rawkon mentioned, this would be pushbutton on the dash.

The 246 allows the case to slip in/out 4wd as you loose traction.
