Hey all. Recently watched the 2-disc 2011 TTC DVD and thought it was awesome as usual except for one thing...and this is not meant to bash anyone...but am I the only one who wished that Stan Prueitt could have stopped talking for 5 mins??????? I enjoy the sights & sounds of the TTC videos and I feel Stan's CONSTANT play by play commenting was WAY too much. I didn't need Stan telling me every little thing that each driver did, how his driving was, how wet his tires were. I could plainly see all this on the TV screen. Please 4Wheeler...at ease on the commentaries for the future TTC DVDs. But on a good note, I hope TTC goes on & on for years to come. 99% of the vids are killer. Thanks for listening.

I guess I disagree. I actually kind of liked Stan's input. In the past there were hosts that had no clue what was going on, it was refreshing and different to get the play-by-play from someone who was a real 4x4 enthusiast and past competitor.

Haven't seen it yet. Don't have a tape yet. I just finally got my December issue. But I do remember in 08 the host said nothing about what I was doing. Then Stan stepped up and started pointing out things like a front dig etc.. Good commentary is great because it teaches people what's happening, what's going on, and what you just witnessed. Next year will be super important with guys like Shannon. The driving tricks that guy has up his sleeve are crazy.

I thought Stan did a fine job. I hope he continues to comentate the videos in the future. This was the best ttc vid to date.

I also recently watched the 2-disc 2011 TTC DVD. This was my first time ever watching a TTC so I cannot comment on past hosts however, I personally loved Stan's commentary. I got into 4wheeling because it is something my husband does so I am not extremely knowledgeable on all things 4wheeler so for me it was nice to have Stan explaining what was going.

I loved this DVD comentary! It was great for showing other people who know nothing about four wheeling and ttc! I felt Stan did a great job of explaining the courses and what each competitor was doing even if I already knew what was going on. I found it extremely enjoyable! The energy and knowledge of Stan was refreshing compared to most comentators from previous ttc or any other documentaries. I want Stan hosting nova or national geographic! He would maybe those animal attacks way more exciting! Anyways love the mag and ttc! Stan was a perfect chose and I know he will just get better and better at doing the job.

Im gonna go ahead and have to dissagree with the OP as well.
You have to understand that not everyone that sees the DVD is a off road expert and might enjoy to know exactly what was going on.
TTC videos are heading in the right direction after starting to sway around 08. In my opinion of course.
Stan did an outstanding job for his first TTC host and will only get better in years to come.
I think its awesome to have a past competitor host as well instead of some paid Hollywood dude.
Its better to have to footage and commentary rather than not. You can always fast forward and turn the volume down.
Keep up the good work Fourwheeler!!!

I'm with Cheston on this one.... The OP brought up things like saying, "... but am I the only one who wished that Stan Prueitt could have stopped talking for 5 mins???? I enjoy the sights & sounds of the TTC videos and I feel Stan's CONSTANT play by play commenting was WAY too much." I could not disagree with the OP MORE!!! I am laying out the guess that the OP is the kind of person that rides by himself/herself into the back country, with the plan to have quiet relaxing weekend in the mountains. The thing you have to take into consideration with the comments you made, are purely based on your opinion. The kind of wheeling we do, (the TTC competitors past, present, & future), is much more technical rockcrawling. Because of this, we have grown much tighter as a group because of the way we communicate on the trails, both in the technical situations and in the normal family trail rides. We use this communication to be able to transfer information much more smoothly, and much more consistently, and accurately!! Through the communication that Stan provided in TTC '11, he is trying his best to keep the things that come out of his mouth on a level of knowledge that would be associated with going out to use their first 4x4 vehicle. Then if you listen more when you watch it the second time, Stan is also giving GREAT information about some of the ways you could build a vehicle that might be able to concur some of the parts of TTC. Then if you watch it the third time, you really see the technical things that Stan brings up to help the advanced person that is considering entering for TTC. Things like tire pressure, steering parts, engines, trannys, transfer-case selection, COG, etc.... So going off of that, it is very clear to me that not only did Stan do a good job with the commentary, but he did the best job that I have seen yet in the 19 years of TTC. Stan knows as much, if not more, about this competition, than even Toby Lavender (Owner XXX Fabrication, TTC '02 competitor, TTC Judge almost ever since!). It takes the right person to be the announcer for this event, and in my humble opinion.... The right man for announcing Top Truck Challenge is, and should be for very long time.... Stan Pruiett!!!! To Fourwheeler Execs; It is my highest recommendation that you retain Mr. Stan Prueitt to be the announcer for 2012, and for MANY YEARS MORE!!! Excellent work and I can't wait to see next year's event!!!! Respectfully, - Matt Klouzek Team "MEGA-REX 6x6x6"

Hey thanks Turbosniper, when I heard about this thread I thought I would chime in. I appreciate everyones thanks and input. I appreicate everyone feedback, because I do want to improve and become better. Thanks BigEd for your comment, I will take your advice and make sure my comments add value to the next show. If my comments are too distracting, turn on your stereo to some Metalica and watch the video to that.
I can't wait for the Champions Cup this will be epic. I am sure the action will cancel out my shortcomings.
Thanks again guys for the comments. On another web page forum there was a discussion about my use of the term "Holy Diver." 10pnts to anyone who can idenitify what song and group that comes from. I will try and limit my use of that word but when you are at TTC in person the excitment and heart pounding sounds, smell, feel, and sight of it all can get you excited.
YOu got to experience it.

A commentator that is knowledgeable and well-spoken is key, but keep the camera work on the rig – Raw and real. The sounds of the drivetrain and suspension are better than say Metallica. Jack Shelton kicks ass! BrianOIIIIIIIO -owner Goliath TTC 2000
