pros: easy, cheap, effective    cons: you can allign the front end afterwords, but it will never be quite right and eat up bearings quicker.    I did it to my '06 and then went back later with a good quality suspension lift. BTW, if you try to crank that front of your truck to the top like you're talking about (3" front?) the allignment will NEVER be right, and you'll keep the tire shop in business. If you insist on this method, don't crank up the torsion bars any more than what it takes to "level" it (trust me)

I bought a 98 tahoe and cranked up the torsion bars. On it to go from a 245/75/16  to 285 i lifted it it about 2 inches about 4 years ago and have never had a problem with alignment

Your best be is to purchase some aftermarket torsion lift keys and a 1-inch rear block.
