ok heres the deal, i have a 1stock 1980 chevy luv, 2 wheel drive, 4 speed manual. i want to lift it and swap in a streight axle from a toyota. my question is what would be the best way to convert it to a four wheel drive? and im kinda on a teenagers budget so the cheaper the better.

Here's a thought, try your search button.  This idea has been beat to death on this and every other 4 wheel drive forum on the net.  It's not even worth saying another word about it.

Yea, a quick search will net you a lot of results.

You're on the right track though. Your biggest hurdle right now is going to be the transfercase. I have no clue what transmission you would have in a Luv so I don't even know where to start giving advice on that.

If you do the 350 that will be easy. Get a 4wd TH350 or 400 and bolt up your 205 to the back of it. (disclaimer... the 205 may or may not bolt up depending on version/year trans you get. It's up to you to research this)

You could get a Luv with a 350 from the factory? Weird, never cared enough to know that...

I'm trying to locate the photo albam of mine with all the pics of my old trucks, and as for the one that just left, the owner of them asked me not to post any pics of them on the intenet till he is done restoring/ modifying it, then he says I can place pics of the finished truck anywhere I want, but he'd pefer not befor.
at that time I will post pics

Interesting... Any factory stock 350 Luv picture will work though, I'm just curious what one looks like. (I know I know, it looks like a Luv with a 350... lol)

im gonna throw a flag on the play.... The whole purpose of the luv was to compete with imports and rising fuel prices.  i would say it only came with a 4 banger stock and maybe a 6 in its later years but prob not

X2, no way in hell that the Chevy luv EVER came with a 350 from GM.  Let alone a 205 behind the tranny.  I'm callin shananigans on this one.  Maybe this guy really thinks Chevy built one, maybe he's trying to pull one over on us.  Either way, it's definately a noob statement.
