hey guys. ive finally figured out that a montero just isnt a great offroader. now im lookin for something nice, that i can drive daily, and just have some fun in every now and then. im lookin for a k5, prefferebly gmc high sierra version, with locking hubs. i for certain want that. what i cant decide on is whether or not to get the 6.2 lttr detroit diesel or not. i hear many mixed reviews. tips? i would love to hear any and everything yall think. thanks, adam

The 6.2 is the king turd of diesel engines. I would personally steer clear of it.

There are so many companies that you can go with for a 4" suspension lift on that thing. Everyone makes one. You should be able to find one with rear blocks, the steering arm, and brake lines for under 500 bucks. I don't like rear blocks, but it's the cheapest way to get it up in the air without going with a body lift (3" max). In the future you could look into ORD's shackle flip kit for the rear springs which nets you a 4" suspension lift retaining your factory rear springs. 4" lift will allow you to run a 35" tire but it will rub if you get it twisted on a regular basis. The 350 is a way better motor than the 6.2 Diesel.
