??rear engined truck??

I have a 86 model S10 I have been collecting parts for.  I am about to begin the chassis which will be constructed of 2" DOM tubing.  I  considered mounting my engine in the bed (496ci bbc) reverse mounted and would like to know what some experienced builders think.  This is my first homebuilt project, so...  Other plans include triangulated 4 link front and rear with rockwell axles, fox air shocks, and tires??--pros/ cons dot tires versus tractor tires.  Primary use is going to be deep mud and possibly hills and trail riding.  Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
