durango 4.7 lost power

i was just driving along when the motor for no apparent reason lost alot of power. it sounded like it was running on about 2 cylinders and could not maintain 30 mph. checked for a plugged cat, it was good and clean. bought a $130 obdII tester and it says there are no codes. anybody have any idea what could be causing this? thanks for any help!!

limp mode maybe?
what year?
does the engine or tranny show any physical damage?

sorry for the late reply, my puter went down. no sir, no sign of damage any where and it didn't make any wierd sounds at all. i just can't make sense of it. thanks for your help!
