Wow, where do you live in CA?  You are the very FIRST person I have ever heard about not being able to find a spot to go wheeling in California.  I lived there for most of my life and never had to search to find a spot to go wheeling, while doing it in a responsible manner of course.

There are TONS of trails and TONS of public land in California, probably more than any other state. You must not be trying real hard to find something.

You're going to have to drive a little since you live in the city, but heck Hollister Hills SVRA, one of the states largest is only about two hours from you. Or the Rubicon of all things is about the same, two or three hours away.

i know right, im used to just pulling out of my drive way and im mudding already, and i honestly dont have the patience or money to drive for 2 hours and prolly end up having to pay to play in the mud for and hour or so and just turn around and drive another 2 hours to get home, and besides that, all the places around here are right on  the edge of my limit cause i gotta be back on base inside of 2 hours if i get called.

yeah... and like i said before, u gotta get up early, get your stuff together, call the guys, wait for them to get ready, and even then, by the time you get there you just want the day to end, wheelin should be fun, not seem like a chore, and even then, im not really in the city, theres feilds galore out here, even hills, just can's use any of it

Guys, you are complaining about having to wait for buddies, then drive for 2 hours and possibly not be interested in doing anything when you get there?  First of all, if all you want to do is find a mud hole, then just wait for winter, it's almost here and then you can get stuck 5 minutes from your house and feel much better about not driving 2 hours away to do it.  Secondly, if you want to rock crawl, without having to drive 2 hours to do it, MOVE TO THE MOUNTAINS!  It's as easy as looking at a map.  If you are looking for pity because you live in the city, you will not find it here.  I do admire your service, and appreciate your sacrifice, but get real.  There are trade offs to four wheeling and going to the places we all love.  In my opinion, getting a group of people together, even though you may have to wait a little longer on them, is half the fun of wheeling anyway.  Getting together with people who all share such a huge common interest is always a very rewarding experience.  At least it has been for me.
