MDR Night Race Aug 15th

So me and a few friends are going out to watch the night race in Lucerne at the "Rockpile". There are currently over 40 trucks entered along with plenty of buggies and a few Jeeps. It is probably the best race all year to check out trucks and just generaly spectate at. The race starts around 6 on Saturday and ends about midnight. I'll be out there Friday night with my truck through Sunday possibly pitting for a team, but that is still up in the air right now. David and friends will be there with his Yota and you can bet there will be plenty of opportunities for wheeling. It is an open course running through open desert so the spectating spots are endless. It will be hot during the day and perfect at night with plenty of comradre around a fire. Anyone want come out and check out my side of off-roading?
I'm pretty sure Spencer had a good time last race, Kevin is slowly turning his Jeep into a desert racer, and Arthur has his beast running again. So who's in? The roads are plenty wide and the dust is nothing a Californis Duster can't take care of, that'll cut down someone's excuse

It was, ...........brighter. Straight out of the 80's though with an antique body they couldn't replace. They updated the body and wanted to update the paint to something 'cooler'. Trying to attract sponsors I think.

The whole body is new.
The body looks good, don't get me wrong it's pretty sexy, but I was a fan of the yellow, it photographed really well and looked awesome!
BTW... Tell George to check out page 98 of the September issue of Off-Road.

It was Jason and different George, George Pondella the owner/driver of that Trophy Truck. I ran a photo of him in last months Off-Road.

He saw it and was stoked! He offered the truck for pics in your tech story too if you need examples of how the big boys do it. They've never been through score tech but I'm pretty sure it's tagged.

I did a once over on my truck, tightened a couple bolts and I'm almost ready to go. I just need to vacuum out the Pismo sand and wash it. 1450 trucks are are to 47 entries!

Sure looks like it. Probably broke a drive flange or had the bolts walk out.

He sheared off the bolts on the drive flange so the axle did walk out. This pic was taken at MM18 or so and he said the driver made it to about MM25 before the ring and pinion burnt up from no oil. He did say it was driving funny, but because of the spool it didn't make too big of a difference. They have upgraded the rear end since and are ready to go for the overall win this weekend. It's little problems like those that drove them to run a full season in a smaller series rather than jump straight into SCORE racing and be another starter without experience and have no hope of finishing. They are currently leading their class with 2/4 wins and only 1 DNF and 2nd overall to a 1600 buggy in the MDR series.
