ok here it is i am 21 years old and still learning about 4x4s. i bought a 77 chevy and a 84 chevy i am taking the axles from the 84 cause the rear is a D60 and the front is a D44 to put in the 77. well i changed the rear out and went to bolt up the drive shaft and the u joints are too small. then an top of that the 77 has a 203 transfer case (tc) and the truck that the axles are out of has a 205(tc). is there any quick fixes or am i going to have to pull the 205(tc) out and put it in the 77. any ideas???

Ok, first of all, the 205 is a MUCH better transfer case than the 203.  You definately want the 205, junk the 203 or keep it for a doubler build later down the road.  Secondly, it sounds like the difference in U joint size is due to 1 truck being a 1/2 ton and the other being a 3/4 ton?  If that is the case then you will need to swap the front axle as well so your front and rear bolt patterns are the same.  Also, FYI, the axle you think is a Dana 60 is most likely a corporate 14 bolt which is a way better axle than a 60 anyway so don't worry about it.  Swap the 205 into the truck you are wanting to keep and (very important here) as long as both trucks have the same transmissions, the front and rear driveshafts from the original 205 truck with the stronger axles should bolt right in.  If the trannys are different (TH350 vs TH400), then you will have to have both driveshafts modified, no way around it.  Rereading your post I see that the donor truck is an 84 right?  In 84 chevy/gm used a 10 bolt in the front of 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks.  In my opinion, you'd be better off keeping the front axle under the 77 and just swapping in 3/4 ton 8 lug spindles and hubs.  Opinions vary on the subject, but personally I think the Dana 44 is a better axle than the 10 bolt front.

Simple answer... find out what size u-joints they are (1330, 1350, 1410, ect) and go down to Napa and get a conversion joint. For instance my rear axle yolk is a 1350, but my driveshaft is a 1330, so I am running a conversion joint. It's very common.

yes the donor truck is the 84 and ya i am switching front and rear they are not the same axles that were originaly in that truck at one time some one switched the axles from original to the d60 rear and d44 front. as far as switching transfer cases i thought about that but the only thing this truck does is pull in tug a truck comp and every one runs about half (203) and half(205). but i am keeping both transfer cases no matter what for spare parts. i think i am going to try and pull the yolk off the transfer and if that dont work i will try the conversion that yall were talking about i didnt know they made such a thing thanks for all the help i really appreciate the help and i will probbaby be back with more questions.

If you are using the 4wd in any capacity on the truck, do yourself a favor and ditch that boat anchor of a 203.  Especially if you are doing tug-of-wars with other pickups.  Also, here's a news flash for you, the axle under the front of your 77 is a Dana 44.

the axle under the front of your 77 is a Dana 44

Maybe not. They started switching them in '77. They were a mixed bag between the 10 bolt and the Dana 44 in '77 & '78. By '79 they were all 10 bolts.

If the D44 is from a 3/4 ton it will have bigger brakes as well as a different lug pattern.
