ive been reading all this and i would like to put my 2 cents in. My family is a mixed culture of 4x4 companies. my mom has a 2000 jeep xy (4.0& auto) I own a 93 F-150 (4.9 stick std cab & short bed) and my brother has a 82 chevy 2500(305 auto lng bed) And they all do what they were bought and built for. My mom uses her xj to go out on the beach and never got stuck. She even pulled me out of the mud with it when i had a 2x4 ranger and thought i could 4x4 things with it. My f-150 is stock now cause i just got it but for what i use it for all i might need maybe is a selctable olcker in the rear and maybe a limited slip in the front. and eventally knobbier tires when my bfr long trails wear out. but i use my f-150 for hunting and fishing so it sees a bit of mud and i do the accational muudin adveture. and i never got it stuck or broke it out in the boondocks as for my brother his chevy 2500 came with 1 ton axles and 3inh lift with 33x12.5 bfg mudders. THe truck works great for him, he uses it for muddin and it never broke down or got stuck it all depends on what toy use your truck for and you know your limits

it all depends on what YOU (not toy) use your truck for and knowing the limits

I would take an International Scout over either. For the looks, and ability. Enough with the Fords, Chevys and Jeeps (most of which are very nice on road where they are used almost exclusively). Drive something you don't see every day. Get a Scout.

nah...the powerjokes are just that, a joke...why would you buy a diesel that gets a low of 9mpg and a high of 13mpg when the dmax that my dad has gets 20+ mpg at times for a high and 15mpg for a low?...Hell even my old 6.2 diesel in my 82 sierra got 20mpg!

and i think its funny that ford put twin turbos on the pjoke and has less tq/hp than that of the dmax and even the 6.7 of dodge w/their single turbos!

Having owned Fords, Chevys, and Dodges, and having never had trouble with any them, I can say that I would recommend any of those brands to anyone. Also, 9 times out of 10 when somebody talks about how "This vehicle is a piece of *** or "That vehicle is a peice of *** it really isn't the fault of the vehicle at all, but has more to do with a lack of mechanical aptitude on the part of the owner. In short, it isn't the truck's fault if you're a crappy driver or mechanic.

And by the way, I wouldn't bring up the GM 6.2 engine in any conversation about deisel trucks. Although I like Cheverolet, and have owned many good Chevy pickups, the 6.2 was a *** embarassment. It got 20 mpg because it only made 10 horsepower (and an equal amount of torque).

Ime gonna build a lsr 4x4 lowrider, gonna gear it to where final drive is 1 to 1 or less and build me ahh diesle mo-ter that makes over a grand of torque and guess what where the torque peak is ,is where it'l pull last gear of it peaks at 1500 rpm at 300mph great!did i mention that the streamliner will be 48 inches wide, uhh ime fat, and run axles around a foot long either way,and just because the long skinny cummins will pull like the monster it is,there it will sit!,I think it will pull the mains out and spit the pistons at 2500 lbs of torque, but it only has to go throught the flying mile twice ! wheres ma coffie...... and nitrous, and propaine injection and a snail from a 14 litre cummins at 150 lbs of boost, it only really needs to go two miles before it blows at bonneville right?
