I'm goinng to buy my sone his first 4x4 in the next 2-3 weeks. Probably between 1985-1992. I need some honest feedback. Which is more reliable, a Ford Bronco 351 or a Chevy K-5 Blazer 350? And which is better suspesion lift or body?

thx

from my experience, i would say the k5 blazer...just make sure you don't get the ifs...the 350 is so easy to work with.  and if you can,  try to avoid a body lift...not something i would do

i would have to go with the k-5 and the 350, my experience tells me that chevy is the more reliable, and the 350 is the greatest engine ever produced.  also that the suspension is easier and cheaper to lift and work on.  i reccomend the bow tie.

i'm going against the grain. i loved my bronk. 85, efi, 302. great truck. never left me stranded. i would however have to agree about the body lift. mine rusted out underneath due to the fact it had one.

oops, i just realized that i brought a thread that was dead for 6 years back to life. sorry.

Lol, yeah the kid probably has already busted up the half-ton axles and running gear, and now has 1-tons under it with 42" Swampers, cut fenders, painted the thing flat black or olive drab, caged it and is now getting ready to rip all the sheetmetal off of it and turn it into a truggy (somewhere in there he probably bought a tow rig & trailer for it too lol).

But just to add my opinion, I would have to say Bronco as well. Chevys had too many structural problems during those years for my liking (frames that cracked around the steering boxes, doors that fell off, hoods that buckle when you try to close them, etc.).

I would say the the Bronc hands down. I would say easier to work on, easy suspension to work with and like the K-5 parts are avail everywhere..
