There are a couple of schools of thought here but when you add true duals you will lose low speed part throttle response and torque and likely MPG as well all for some sound. I would suggest a nice big single exhaust with a flowmaster or the like and use a "Y" pipe on the outlet to make dual tail pipes if you want them so you will retain low speed performance while getting your sound.

thanx for the suggesttions. its illegal in my state to have true duals on w/o the cat. and even if i did i would have to get another cat for the one pipe. i was thinkin about getting the super 40 series flowmasters. people usually put them on their muscle cars but i want to sound tough lol.

I have had one on my 89 burb for about 5 years now with a single 3 inch system and it has a nice deep note to it yet not overly load either. I am planning a simular setup on my 2000 K3500 (which has two  3 inch down pipes with dual CATs to muffler) with a single 3.5 inch tailpipe when I can get someone to make the pipe as muffler I want has a 3.5 inch outlet too.

Sometimes if it is to loud it can resonate in vehical and make it very unpleasant at times and it can get old too.

No I am realistic, you are not. I like to hear my radio without it blaring and be able to take a cell call in peace and quiet too if need be and not have my client know I am mobile either.

No driving and taking a bussiness call because when I am in my truck it is my mobile office and I like it to be quiet and comfortable too.

i have a couple problems with your statement for one a free flowing exaust will gain you power torque and increase you mpg and will have no negative effects only positive ones, i'm guessing you're just banother chevy guy with his head so far up his ass he can't hear a nice sounding truck if he's being ran over by it

Not sure what you are asking with your statement or sarcasim. It does not matter what brand truck you have but generally with a gas engine when you install true duals you loss pat throttle responce and tourque at low and mid RPMs because backpresure and shockwave because the cylinder banks play a factor in engine output. Less backpressure is not always better. I am a fan of a high flow single exhaust which is a good compromise as it reduces back pressure while keeping the shock wave tuning at part throttle in balance for better responce to throttle input and with better responce comes better MPG too.

SNoman is right on this one.  big, wide open pipes are great on fast CARS, but when you're dealin with a truck, its always good to have some back pressure.  I swithched to open headers on my Off-road-only truck and the lack of backpressure made it sound and run like crap at low RPM and i burned up a valve the same day.  Once it was fixed, the pipes went back on and no more problems

Its funny how easily exhaust vlaves burn when there is no back pressure to ensure they seal properly.

By funny I mean entirely predictable and preventable.
