I just bought a 97 jimmy and i was just wondering what size lift (either body or/and suspension) I need to fit 33 inch tires.

Probably the 5.5" kit thats out there. Not sure on the manufacturer. a 3" body lift will only clear 31's, 32's if your lucky. With fender trimming and the right offset on your rims you might be able to get away with less than 5.5" of lift.

Will i need anything else if i get the 5.5" suspension lift and 33" tires, I mean i know there are some mods that may be nice to have, but do i need new gears or anything.

Gears would be a big plus. You wont be happy with your truck's performance after you add 6" of tire diameter over stock.

You speedo will need recalibration too. Don't expect to be able to run your stock rims either, unless you stick to a narrow 9.50 wide tire.

I would figure on about 4.56's for gearing. They are not as deep as the sound with overdrive.

i have a 97 gmc jimmy also i have a 3 inch susp. lift it was half the price of a body lift and i can fit 32s with no rubbing on the front or the rear i kept the gearing stock and i have no problems its a little bit slower taking off but i can still spin posi on dry pavement just like the stock tires. my truck is a daily driver

keeping the gearing stock aint causing you any problems cause thats what i worried about.wow! cause im seeing 3 inch body lifts for like 100 dollars out there your suspension lift couldnt have been cheaper than that.
