The reason that the rear axle is narrower is to try and increase the turning radius. Wheel spacers are $85 a piece last time I checked for mine, but they only recomend a max tire size of 32 inches.

They also in effect weaken axle assembly as they increased the leverage place on housing under load. Ever wounder whay you see bent axle housing on 4x4 with big offset ries but never see it on trucks with stock tires and spacings?
