Good proven drivetrain. I would change all of the fluids in engine, tranny, tcase and diff's to start "fresh". On the subject of lift. Stay consevative if you plan to play hard because stock the front suspension while take a beating but as you raise it and use larger offset wheels with bigger tires it greatly increases the strain on it. ALso consider effect of tires on overall drive ratio and rear gear the truck if you go up a few tire sizes and more. This is important, not only for overall performance but also for clutch life as well as bigger tires with stock gearing will make the clutch work a lot harder at times.

Congrats! Good purchase, solid drivetrain, cheap parts, venerable 350. Good solid truck, I'm jealous, I wish I had bought a 2500 instead of my 92 1500.

It is a NP241 for Tcase and rear axle is a 9.5 inch 14 bolt it is a 2500 LD or a 10.5 14 bolt if it is a 2500 CP6 (heavy duty model) The 10.5 id easy to identify because the pinion is in a removeable cage/carrier the bolts into the front of axle diff housing. Both are stout with w 10.5 being well known for its stoutness.

Twin sticking is not possible with that Tcase and to install one that does support it would be difficult because of front differentail location. With a 87 GM truck or earlier or a Suburban or Blazer 91 or older it would be fairly easy to do though and install a modified NP205 in them. You can find some twin stick info at link below http://forum.snoman.com/viewforum.php?f=52 ------------------------------ The SnoMan www.thesnoman.com

alright after just getting the newest fw magazine and reading the 2x4 to 4x4 conversion i got to wondering what it would take to put a solid front axle under my truck and would it be worth it? there is an older chevy with a straight axle for sale near me and i could probaly get it for 500 bucks manily because the body is junk. i will probbly be driving this truck as a daily driver so ride must be considered and also price is an object here. also is there a kit to do this with?

when i bought this truck i knew the parking brake didnt work. now after getting some other projects done on it i am onto the parking brake. i was looking in the fw magazine and saw the transfer case mounted parking brake for a toyota, is this possible with a nv241 t-case? it seem salot simpler than the rear axle brake. it there a kit to do this
