i recently bought a used chevy -1990 k1500 4x4 with 5.7l and automatic tranny, but i have no books or owner manuals with truck, what i would like to know is  the hp rating and torque, the truck does have tbi, and also wht type of tranny was put in stock 4x4's that chevy produced in 1990. the truck runs great i put valve seals in last weekend and new plugs and runs even better.

It has TBI and was rated at about 210 HP. It does not like to wind up as made and taking it past 4000 RPM gains nothing but noise. It is happier at 3000 RPM and below with factory cam and breathing. The tranny is a 700R4 which in that model year was not a bad tranny. Also, valve guide seals failure is pretty common on that motor with age and hi mileage. You want to keep a eye on intake gasket to block seal in rear as they tend to leak oil there with age sometimes.

BTW, you can find GM engine ratings that I have compiled at link below.
