Front axle will not lock in

My bro has a 1991 GMC K1500 4X4 Z71. its has that TLA junk in the front that locks in the fromt axle. we have tryed three other TLAs (junk yard parts) and it still wont lock in. the T-case locks in with the lever (you can feel the gear reduction) now is there a fuse or relay for the TLA circut? cuz if a jumper the TLA with a cordless drill battery it works... id hate for him to buy a new TLA ($300!) if that aint broke...

check the wiring harness for power when it is engaged in four. there should be a fuse somewhere check all the fuse boxes. also i believe the 95 and newer use a different style that were faster and more reliable and should fit right in.
