i have a 1994 2500 light duty chevy pickup. as far as i know everything is stockl. to the best of my knowledge it has a 350, NV 4500, and NP 241, and guessing 3.73  gears. i would like to lift it to fit 35's. i imagine it will take a 6" lift, although i would would consider a 4"  but i dont want to trim anything. i am thinking about the rough country kit  but dont know what is all involved. has anyone ever used this kit? other than extinding the brake lines and regearing would i need anything that is not included in the kit? my truck is a dd and would get used for mudding moslty but nothing serious. any help is appreciated

To lift your truck, you need to lower the front suspension and differentail and these kits have the parts needed to do this properly. I would suggest a 4 inch lift and a inch or two of body lift if you need more. Since you have a a LD 3/4 ton you have 3/4 ton running gear in front for you are good there (better than with a 1/2 ton) and in the rear while you do not have the 10.5 inch full floater, you have the 9.5 inch semifloater which will not even break a sweat with 35's on it as it is quite stout and often overlooked. On gearing. I would suggest at least a 4.56 here and possible deepre if you go bigger still and the ECM in truck will easily support 4.56 gears with simple reprogramming as it was offered in some GM models them and some had gears up to 5.13. You picked a good platform to build on and far better than a 1/2 ton that many use.

what would be the advantages of putting a 4" with a 2" body lift verses a just a 6"suspension lift as the two suspension kits are basicly the same

WIth a pure 6 inch lift, the drive line angle(drive shafts) are steeper and the CG is higher. It also increase stress levered against frame from longer/extend lift parts. With a combo, you reduce drive line anlge and lower CG a bit because though you are raising it as total of 6 inches ( 4suspension, 2 body) the 2 inches of body lift does not raise CG as much because frame and drivetrain is not being raised as well.
