well i just got my first car (yeah i know its not a truck and i should go somewhere else) and im worryed about theft.
well i came up with an idea that would work for anything and would be cheap as hell. im going to weld a bolt onto my clutch (or brake) then wrap a chain around the clutch (with one link hooked onto the bolt) then chain it to my seat bracket. i saw a thing on tv last year that allmost kinda gave me the idea but there system cost like 100 bucks and a chunk of chain and a masterlock is 10.
the cars only worth 1500 (blue book) but i got it for 500. i just dont want some kids taking it for the night and burning it on some trail. this system will work i havent tested it yet but i know it will.
my car (subaru loyale) can not be started without the clutch in. and even if you could start the car you have no clutch so shifting wouldnt be easy.
i dono im bored and i havent talked on here for a wile someone write me back ill draw a picture or take one if anyone wants Pancakes, its whats for breakfast

there was a cheap trick in Four Wheeler a year or so ago, that sounds similar to this, but this involved welding a link of chain to the shifter, and locking the vehicle in 1st, or reverse. so even if they could get it started, they couldn't get it very far, when combined with your idea, it would make the car completely theft proof.

I thought about doing the same as in that cheap article but my shifter is a three on the column but for now i am not worried since it is still a 600 dollar truck and would give me a good excuse to go get anther truck if someone took it but that don't keep someone from taking the tools out of his car/truck assuming that the doors don't lock if you are doing this anyway. or a extra switch going to the ignition underthe dash. Is this just for fun and extra theft prevention are are there more people like mewith no door keys and no keyed ignition. 2 years no keys not stolen 600 got my moneys worth or noone wants a 4x4 with a rattling 350 3 on the tree and bald tires?

Those are some pretty good ideas however anybody with a hack saw could get past that unless you trew in a cheap noise maker, you know' one of those $30 alarms, as soon as they open the door it draws attention, which is what they dont want.

yeah but you know how many people dont care about a pos alarm going off?
yeah i know a hacksaw will take my system out but how many people have hack saws in there thief pack? bolt cutters are another enemy to my system but who in the hell would sit there for 2 minutes just taking a thick ass chain off a junk car when there are other much easyer ones?
i really like the fuse idea im going to use that from now on. i still like my idea too but it would get to be a pain in the ass.
the main reason i dint want to do anything with the shifter is there arent many spots to ancor the chain to. and ide have to weld onto my shifter and i have a nice rubber boot on it that would have to be taken off... if it was a truck ide do it.
also the clutch idea would also work on brakes too. cant take it outa park if you have a tight chain.

Like one reader said, you can remove fuse or better yet put a hidden kill switch in the opens ground on ignition coil (not hot wire) because if you open the ground on the coil it will not work even if you "hot wire" directly with ground open. Most people would miss this when trying to trouble shoot because the ground is normally never opened hence it is never checked.

I found a cool system on the JC Whitney web site. It cuts out the starter with a key, not a lever switch. Not only does it lock out the starter but it locks the hood of your truck or car. Here is the web address on JC Whitneys web site.

Getting some to keep walk to the next car and not trying to take your rig is a good plan. Buy an LED light and wire it to the battery, makeing your car or truck look like it has an alarm. Another simple trick I do is when I park for a long time I turn the wheels just in case someone wants to tow my truck away. I try to keep someone from even thinking about taking my truck, It is my pride and joy and the insurance can never replace the time and money I have spent on my truck.

The only ones that get stole is the ones you worry about. The only thing i worry about is forgetting my keys at work and having to drive all the way back to get the house keys. A few days ago i forgot my keys at the doctors office bet they wonder how i left without 'em.
