why do you want to do this most of the people i know are happy with the 300 4 speed setup lots of torque and don't drink as much gas. 4.1gears and 35s.

the 300 4 speed setup is great for a mild build up but the six redlines too quickly with not enough wheel spin roughly 4000 rpm and i get valve float i am running 3.50 gears with 33's scince the truck still needs to go on the freeway i cant really put 4.10's in it because my top crusing speed is already 65 and thats pushing the rpms kinda high (around 2800) as far as gas milage it only gets around 8 to 10 mpg. very bad for a six. i have tryed everything to squeeze more power out of it just short of bigger pistons and as far as the mpg theres nothing wrong with the engine ive had it cheaked top to bottom by a mechanic no carb problems no timing problems nobody knows why it gets such bad gas milage and its not because of a lead foot either so i figured to reach the 300 HP range it would just be cheaper to swap engines

I 've done this swap using the 351w. All you will need is the proper flywheel and motor mount pedestals and a larger radiator.

yes the 351w is lighter than the 351m and the m is worthless past 500'000 miles if you find a 351wpi get it 2003 CBR 600 F4I & 79' GMC C15

put a 351 windsor the m is pointless the windsor will need radiator motor mounts and proper flywheel if youre gonna go with a big block go with a 429/460

Don't use the M. Stick to Windsors and 429/460's. Even a 302 will whoop up on a M. New flywheel, motor mount pedestals, radiator, exhaust.

I agree with joejeep, the old 300 six like the old GM 292 are great engines. With a little bit of work they will easily out power small V8's at lower RPM's where most off roading is done. I is hard to match the smoothness and torque of a big "six" at low RPM's.
