Broke my transmission

I own an '85 ramcharger 5.2 4X4
I recently replaced my starter and i noticed that the transmission case was cracked near the bolt holes and thought nothing of it. After installing the new starter I tried to start the engine and the entire area around the two bolt holes for the transmission broke off. Now I need to replace the transmission. This is where I could really use some help. Can I get any used 727 transmission and swap it or does it have to be specific to my truck because it's a 4X4?

usually 4x4 trannys are thicker to carry a0 higher volume of
torque
