i have a 2002 1500 Ram with 4.7, 4sp auto 4x4 , i'm getting tranny fluid around the bellhousing all around, is there any comlplications with these transmissions yet and what to look for any help is appreciated. Also i use this truck for towing and am looking to put slightly larger tires on it, it has cat back exhaust and a oem replacement K&N air filter what other bolt ons or chips have proven themselves well in these trucks for performance? thanks!

You are likely seeing signs of transmission overheating (it will vent out of top side of tranny). You need two things, deeper gears and a aux tranny cooler and if you plan bigger tires and to tow too I would go with 4.56's for 33's and 4.88's for 35's with your truck.

Tracet the fluid to its highest point and find the origin, I agree w/ snoman that its probably coming out the vent. Im not sure of your experience level, but never tow heavly loads w/ overdrive on, the slipping causes major heat buildup. YOur next upgrade would probably be headers or something along those lines, but if you plan on increasing the tire size significantly, plan to do gears or get a new tow rig!

I would stay away from headers in a tow vehicle because they add a lot of under hood tempature and pass this down to tranny area too and add more for tranny cooler to overcome.
