i need help...ive got a 95 Z71 with six inches of suspension lift and 3 inches body lift, i was wondering, would it be worth swapping in a solid axle in the front? or is leaving the ifs just plain better? i usually just hit some mud and im hoping to hit rocks, but im not there yet. and what do i need to look for in a front axle? the rear is a GM 14 bolt with a limited slip differential. any help would be appreciated.

If your front driveshaft is on the drivers side, then you need to look for a pre Super Duty, Ford Dana 60 out of a leaf sprung 1 ton pickup.  If the driveshaft is on the passenger side, any GM Dana 60 from a 1 ton truck will work.

if you want to do rocks at all I would go with a solid axle for sure, there just plain stronger. Personally I would use a dana 44 if your running smaller than 37" tires, they have a bit more ground clearence and are quite a bit lighter too. But the dana 60 is the beast foe sure.
Where's the time to work on MY stuff?
