Hey iam back again. i have 35 on my truck (83 GMC with a 350) right know iam runing 35s i what to get more power and i was thinking of get 4.11 or 4.56 gears. i might be get a bigger lift  and i might go to 38s or higher. would that be a low gear  to go to or  what should i do? think you for your time.

if you do the 3/4 ton conversion than just look for axles with 4.10s in them. they are pretty common. and 3.73 is the only other option that is normally available stock. 4.56 gears are out there but harder to find.  4.10s and 38s works ok if your 350 makes good power. any bigger on the tires and lower gears are needed. i'm running 42s and 4.10s with a 245 horsepower 350 and it's low on power. i just swapped in a dana 60 front with 4.56s but haven't changed the rear over yet, so i don't know how much different it is, but soon we will see. if you plan on driving on the street alot with 38s then the 4.10s work out ok especially on the freeway.  when you go wheel'n low range makes up for the lack of gears.
