Just read a brief article in one of the other 4wheel and offroad magazines, about a new cable operated locker from OX. Thats all well and good, but what shocked me was that the article stated that you can get Dana 60 strenght out of the stock Dana 30! Is this a misprint or a dream come true? Everyone dies, not everyone really lives

the ox locker replaces the whole carrier inside the diff with super tough stuff, so the carrier is probably as stout as a dana 60. that just means that you will always break a shaft or axle joint when wheeling.

Thanks for the info. With that in mind, if I were to go ahead and upgrade the shafts and u-joints, I'd be ok to run a 36" tire? Or do you think that would be pushing it? I'm trying to see if there's a feasable way to upgrade the D30 for mild trail runs without having to swap in a biger front axle. Thanks 1 Peter 3:13

those shafts aren't that much smaller than a dana 44, so you might get away with that if you are easy on it.
