I have been told by my local Chevrolet dealership that my 205 transfer case is recommended to run with transmission fluid.

What do you think? Why wouldn't you run a heavier lubricant such as 80w-90?

I have been running gear oil rather that Chevy's recommended lubricant for years.

What are your Pro's and Con's on this question?

if you put auto trans fluid in a 205 you will burn it up. atf is not thick enough to cushion the gears as they touch each other. atf works great in a chain drive case where there are no gears touching each other.but not a gear to gear.
