International made Scout II's from the factory with 4wd. They figured that their target market would be people who needed a real truck that could handle the rigors of farm life and other things like that, but carry the family as well. They did make Scout II's in 2wd, but it was a special order deal. I've seen only one Scout II that was 2wd. It was a green 79' Scout II and was really clean. The owner said that he bought it because he liked it, but wanted better milage and didn't need the 4wd. Oddly enough the 2wd Scout didn't sit any lower than the 4wd version. The owner was the one who told me about having to special order it.
