Okay so its a brand new engine in my 1975 K10, and when i was running it for the first time i left the radiator cap off (So that I could monitor the coolant level and add water when the thermostat opened) Well, around the time when the thermostat would open, it launched water out of the radiator like a hose. What would cause this to happen? Is it a thermostat problem?

Do you have your water pump bypass hooked up to the intake or are the heater hoses hooked up? You need to do one or the other to prevent excessive pressure from building in the block before the thermostat opens.

Sorry, meant to reply eariler. After it volcanos can you add coolant or does it just spit it up again? If it does than you either have an air lock in system or something much worse. You said motor was "new". Is it a new crate motor or rebuilt? Did you rebuild or you bought rebuilt? I put heads on a 3.0 V-6 and had an inproper torque on head bolts due to antifreeze in bolt holes.Yep didn't blow out the holes before assemble.Duhhhhhhh!! Once it warmed up here came the antifreeze and it looked like a volcano. Tried to add and it came up too! Had to start all over. Live and learn. Keep us posted.
