I got an 76 blazer with a 400ci,650cfm carb, headers and np205. it also has a 6 inch lift that clears 36's but i wanna put some 42-44 inch TSL'S. WHat would i need to do to clear THE TIRES?

you know your gearing is gona be gone and driving will suck
is that lift on the Suspension .. I hope it is. we have about a foot of over all lift on the k-5/s10
body lift it at 4-6 inches and 6 inches on the leave springs.
we hit the fenders on hard twists and steering hard ( left or right )
watch your steering system tho it really does not like 6 inches of lift so moding that is allmost a must but if its going down the street ide keep it how it is.
and if your going to run this truck off road ide beat the #### outa the fender walls and watch all sharp stuff on your wheel wells your tires are worth more than the body. you dont want giant cuts on the new rubbers you just put on do you?

cut the fenders, cut the fenders, cut the fenders. I wouldn't ever go over a 3" body lift, that is way too much stress on the mounts, not to mention the major cost of relocating every single shift lever, cable, radiator/bumper mounts, etc. With a 6" suspension and 3" body you should be more than fine with cutting the fenders. I've seen 40" ground Hawgs with only about 6" of lift and massively cut fenders. I've had true 33's with no lift at all and only minor front fender trimming in the rear where it compresses, so 42's should be no big deal. The rear will be easy, there's lots of room in there, the front will need a lot more trimming. Get some of those big bushwhacker cutout flares to make it look good and keep them "inside" the fenders.

do you have 44s on your truck? do you own a chevy that is close to the one listed in this forum?
NO YOU DONT
do you really wheel? or do you just go on the trails where we park our trailers?
o you SEEN? or was told? well i know
if your going to really wheel with that truck 12inches of lift would be the tallest and a min of 9 (6 suspention 3 body)
i mean come on we got the same set up over here and i know i travel harder trails than you could think up yes lifting your truck is hard but thats the price you pay for having 44inchers and really really wheeling with them
otherwise keep your doughnut (true) 33s to your self

yeah whens the last time you went anywhere other than your trails we have done paragons hardest levels for 2 days (1 in one easyer class) and never used a winch or broke down. and its not a fullsize its an s10 (less top heavy) and fullwith axles.
i got a few pics which ill email to you if you would like
our home trails are getting harder than a few paragon trails but its a great time out there and its allways good to go around to see whats up
and the s10 body is a much much better set up not only are you not as wide as a fullsize and much lighter. being that we run 44s lifting that high is not too bad our roof is lower than a jeeps with 38s and allmost no lift at all

I'ld be careful about wanting to put meats that big on your truck unless you have atleast a 14 bolt or Dana 60. I don't believe your K5 came factory with either.
As far as the lift goes, since you're already sprung over, I'ld ditch the rear blocks and go to a reputable spring co. and have them make you a set of 6" lift springs that have lots of thin leaves (better ride, and articulation). I would definitely not get that body any higher than 3" off of the chassis. You get really top heavy. I agree about trimming up the fenders. Bust out the sawzall and go to work, then hammer those sharp edges back under so you don't slice up that pricey rubber. If you're still not satisfied with the amount of travel and clearance you have, then you could go with some heavy duty 2" shackles. They might get you another 1-2".
In all the wheeling mags and rock crawling circuits, the tendency has been to stay low so you don't roll. They've all trimmed lots of fender metal away so they can still get the desired articulation. If you want anything more than you better start looking into a 4 link with air bags, coilovers, or 1/4 ellipticals. About the only 4 wheeling arena where you can get away with being up there is mudding.
As for the attitude, I'm sure everyone has had a long day Skblazer. Your day was in highschool, ours were at jobs where we have to make a living to survive and keep wheeling. So please understand that we already deal with lots of attitudes and don't really want to deal with any others when we come to our fav. blog spot to talk about wheeling. You have the right to say what you want, but you won't gain any respect from people who have been wheeling for longer than you have by shooting off your mouth and calling people names.
As for 33's, I can't believe I heard someone call those donut tires. It wasn't 10 yrs. ago when they were considered to be huge and 35's were monsters. People tackled killer trails with skill, one locker, and "Donut" tires. Today, people make up for their lack of skill by getting tires that can swallow up any crack, and axles that would survive a nuclear explosion, not to mention dual lockers. It seems that there are very few people out there that are interested in learning to drive their trucks better. Most of them just like to point and shoot.

yeah, actually I've got a 73 fullsize, but no 44's. I don't have a little #### complex to make up for like yourself. You claim you wheel tighter spots than I could dream up, I really wonder. You're the guy on potato salad hill bustin his axles every pass, and holdin up the line to prove just how bad ass you are. Come on admit it, I've met guys like you on every trail. Super cool, I know.
If you knew a little more about f/s chevy's you'd know how much single wall sheetmetal is ripe for the cutting- 6 inches in the rear at least, none of it structural. And the same in the front if you make a new wheelwell. And six inches of body lift? PLEASE poser!
Go on, pump up your post count to show me just how intelligent you are. Cause we all know the bigger the better right, and you're the biggest. Bow down before "Mr. 60 posts"!
