No, the 203 is the junky boat anchor of transfer cases. If you want something to stand up to heavy use such as truck pulls, then the NP205 is the ONLY case you should even consider using.

You must be thinking of the 205. The 203 is a full time, chain driven case. The gear reduction unit itself is very strong, but the chain driven aspect of the case lends nothing toward strength. Anyone swearing the 203 is the most bullit proof case out there is sadly mistaken. Do a search on this or any other internet forum relating to 4x4s and search "203 swap" and see what you get. I can almost guarantee that in every article or post or thread you read, the 203 will always be the case they want to get rid of.

there is a swap you can use the 203 gear driven case part mated to a 205 to make a multie gear case, but dont think it may be whatcha looking at. there is a t-case called an atlas? w/ 4 to 1 or more reduction and a couple o others. this is el cheapo talkin, but use what ya got till it breaks then upgrade broken part? idk.I had a nvg 271 aluminum t case im my naughtydodge, the 600 cummins has a 271 or 2 tcase behind modified 1000 ft lb racers of the sticky mud, maybe a new style tcase would bolt up? guys?

You don't want super low gearing for truck pulls, you want HP, and lots of it. Alot of truck pullers don't even use a gear reduction transfer case to my knowledge. They just use a direct drive that powers the front axle as well. You want something super strong and easy to maintain or fix. The 205 is your best bet. Also, this kind of action is hard on all equipment, better think about switching over to a turbo 400 tranny.
