Whats up everyone? i have a 04 Dodge ram 1500 quad cab 1500 4x4. I have noticed a shutter when taking off from a stop. It seems to happen more when i am turning. It could be that most of the time when i stop that i am turning but not sure. i have the 3.55 rear end. i seen something about the fluid level and that you need to check it with a pipe cleaner. is this true. I am about to change the rear end fluid just to inspect but want to know if anyone else is getting this.

Thanks in advance,
Josh

What you have is a common problem with dodge 4x4. you have a trac lock in the rear end which is good to about 60,000 miles.when you take the cover off youll find remenents of clutch clips in the bottom.what happens the clips come out because the carrier is shot and it causes the axle not to properly engage which causes the shutter probely worse when your backing up and turning at the same time or when you take off at a red light if and it runs right when you get above lets say 15-20 mph and stright if so you need to replace the locker preferbly with one without clutches

Thanks for the reply. I replaced the clips and everything was real tight. i was thinking that the clips failed and not the carrier. i will let you know if i run into any issues in the future.

thanks again,
Josh
