Pismo Prep '09

Well, I started this thread a little earlier last year, but I am in better shape this year. Truck is running well and only the front end is off this time. I broke my upper arm mount on the Ridgecrest race weekend and pretty much got that fixed up, just need to plate the frame and it's good. While I was up there I pulled the shocks off to revalve them to handle the Pismo jumps. Front bumper is about halfway done, 1 of 3 HIDs are wired up. Biggest project this weekend kinda snuck up on me. My frame has been weakened by my liberal clearancing for up-travel and has been bending for awhile. I figured I would just throw a simple bedcage and make a place for my spare tires to mount while I was at it. Two days now and it's almost done.

I really hate C-channel frames, makes this a lot more involved.

I even have an alternate spare set-up inspired by Jon.

I hope to mount a jack between the tires and a tray to hold a cooler above the axle. I got most of it tacked together but a breeze kicked up so I have to go finish it tomorrow.

So what little projects does every one else have to do? I know Jason has a swaybar to mount, anything else going on?

Nice! I've already picked out where I'm going to nerf you first... hahaha

And yup, just like Brian I've got a long list. Spent the last four days working on my truck and it's comming along nicely. Lets see here...

Finished

Sway Bar
Remount Spares
Clearance Fenders/Bumper
Mount Fuel Filter
Check Fuel Cell

Unfinished

Mount Fuel Pump
Mount Bedsides
Maintainence
Reroute Electrical
Paint

I've still got a ways to go but I should get there.

Still no clue whats causing the latest fuel related issues. Pickup is fine, still on the bottom of the tank, pickup hose is fine, filter was used but didn't seem overly dirty (changed anyway), pump screen appears fine though I did find some yellow goo on it and on the outlet side of the filter. So I'm going to exchange the pump sometime this week since it has a 1 year warranty and I'm under that and then move it to the underside of the tank and see what happens.

After Brian poked fun at my half assed wire tieing from two years ago (when I was in a rush to finish the truck) I decided to reroute it all. So all the wiring from about the middle of the cab back is off and laying on the driveway.

All the tube work needed to be repainted after driving through the nasty mud on Soda 'dry' lake last December gave my truck cancer. I picked up 5 cans of Rustoleum and am having a go at that again.

One of my HID ballasts is on its way back to San Diego to be warrantied since it died in Ridgecrest.

I need to pick up some new bulbs for my blinkers and headlights since they are out. Also need a new license plate light socket and reverse light socket (anybody going to the junk yard this week? lol)

Need to get to Ford sometime today and order a new circlip for my front axle so it will stay in the hub. (another casualty of MR and the rock I hit)

And I need to get a spare tire still.

I think that about sums up what I've got to do in the next, oh, six days.

(I'll post some pictures later, camera's at home)

Dang, I thought I was bad off.

I got the bedcage fully welded and almost good enough for Pismo. Went through 40 ft of tubing so I need to order some more today. Got the fuel filler modified to mount the filler and enable aluminum plating some day. Need to finish the front bumper, send the 3rd out to get regeared and buy some bedsides. Anyone going down to San Diego soon? I don't really want to drive all the way to Fiberwerx. LOL

Glassworks is in Huntington and Hanneman is in Azusa...

Somehow I just managed to spend $80 at Autozone and only get ZipTies light bulbs an oil filter and some brake cleaner... stuff's getting expensive...

Only problem is both of them cost more than $300 for both. It's good to have friends, but I just wish they weren't so far away.

Keep me posted Kev, I may just have to make it worth your while.

True, they are probably close to 5-600... so for $300 it's worth the drive I guess.
