sounds like a typical yota.... jokes aside, isnt there a way to measure resistance on the sensor without a special scope?

no I got that its a tacoma, was just saying that 100-150 dollar diagnostic might save you time money and frustration
i've seen the rig at pismo, I don't think it ran, but I saw it
kevin you can check it but it will be hard (or impossible?) to read, with the scope u see the wave of the signal

Still wrong truck Art... Brian has two (well three) a Silver 4wd Pickup with the Turbo Supra motor that you've seen at Pismo, and a Black 2wd Tacoma that you haven't seen that is having this problem...

Yup, I know. My name is Brian and I'm a Toyotaholic. I'm addicted to Toyotahol. In case you were counting the third is a new project that is on the long term money hog plan. More on that one later. A lot later.

oh ok.
my comment still stands, have the dealer diagnose it. they have computers, databases, and information that we do not.
IMO it would be worth to drop 150 to find out what the exact problem is vs. buying sensors and stuff (can u return that one?)

Well, I got the Tacoma running. Really glad it was so easy, but kicking myself real hard cause it could have been done on the trail when it started up. Or in Laughlin when I was dicking with it, or at the bottom of the hill by the train station so I could do more then 30 MPH up it. It was the freakin mass air flow sensor! I pulled it out of the housing and saw one of the two filament wires caked with dirt. I hit it with a paint brush, fired it up and the thing runs better than ever!
Check engine light still comes on, but it has no effect on how it drives. I still need to fix it so it will pass smog, but I'm good for Pismo. One item checked off the list.
