I need to get my Tacoma running again before Pismo but it's fighting me every step of the way. I did the usual cap, rotor, wires, plugs, and cat, but to no avail. I checked the O2 sensors and the heater is still working, just need to check the output next. It is throwing the check engine light on which means I can pull a code if I had a scanner, which brings me to my question. Does anyone have an OBD2 scanner I could borrow for a bit? I will be down in Jason's area near Norwalk/ Cerritos Friday through Sunday. I would just take the truck down to Midas for the free scan, but it's in between being street legal right now and would have to tow it, which is a huge hassle. If I could borrow one, that'd be great. It would save me $130.

No, I tried. They used to, but pulled them from the tool loan list due to "liabilities". I have no idea what that means but the guy wouldn't give me one.

Where in the 818 are you? I thought you were down in Orange county with the rest of these guys.

Yea, the short version of the story as to why you can't borrow scanners anymore is that the ASE saw it as taking money from them/independent shops by allowing people to diagnose then repair their own vehicles. So they made up some bs, sued, won, and we can't borrow scanners anymore. Sucks.

Glendale would be closer to me in Santa Clarita. Any chance I could pick it up tomorrow night and return it on Sunday afternoon Arthur?

So Frank, does your Mog not have an OBD2 port? lol
