I have a 1996 GMC Yukon 4x4 and I just changed both of my rear U-joints. The truck ran great for about 200 miles and all of a sudden, in 2-hi, I hear a horrible grinding like I`m grinding gears in a stick shift (mines automatic). When I drive it in 4-hi, it runs fine. I can floor it and everything. But in 2-hi when I drive and only while driving, when the engine revs over 2500 rpms, there is a bad grinding and if I go about 5-10 mph and shift from 2-hi to 4-hi I can feel the grinding in the shifter on the floor. I have no idea what it could be so please help me. you can e-mail me at oneof3trumpets@yahoo.com thanks -tim

Sounds like the transfer case isn't completly engaging/disengaging. I think it has little or nothing to do with the U-joint swap, just coincedence. Check/adjust t-case linkages. Also, make sure all bolts in the area are tight, like the t-case to tranny bolts, mounting bolts, crossmember bolts. All I can think of right now.
