I currently have dual exhaust with cherry bombs without any x or h pipe on my vehicle. I plan on putting newer quieter exhaust on it. It has a 350 stock tbi and just looking for a lil bit more power.

What would be better as far as low-mid range torque? Single or keeping it duals (but with mufflers)? Would a Y pipe stock (2into1)exhaust of a 2wd Blazer bolt onto it to make it single but run a 3" muffler like the factory setup?

I had a 82 Jeep Cherokee 360 with dual exhaust and cherry and when I changed the exhaust to single 3" pipe Maganflow that vehicle ran and sounded great. Which is the direction which i will probably take.

I gave up on dual exhaust on a truck long ago. I never could keep the tailpipes from looking like hell after a year or less. Busted hangers, crushed tips, rusty chrome, etc.  Besides, I have come to the conclusion that a dual exhaust (even real duals) on a truck not only sounds like crap, it is just REDNECK AS HELL! "Hey, Y'all, look at my big truck and little weeny!
Your not gaining much, if any, performance with dual exhaust anyway. I feel like a good free-flowing cat back system is all ya need.
I have a DIY catback with a Dynomax and a 3 and a 1/2" turn down at the rear axle that I really like. It has a nice manly sound when ya gouge down on the pedal which smooths out as the RPM's level out.
There's my 2 cents.....Did I sound too much like Snoman, Y'all?

In my opinion, if you want torque off idle to mid range, then you should be running a single exhaust.  I'd run a 3" clean out (no neck downs at the cat or muffler like 2-1/2") to gain the most torque.  Where you see the benefit of dual exhaust is in the upper RPM ranges like 4000 and higher where your engine is spinning super fast and needs to expel the burnt fuel very quickly.

OK so i made my decision about going to single with 3" pipe with Maganaflow muffler. Now the important question that I have is does a 2wd factory Y pipe from the exhaust manifolds where they become 2 into 1 fit a 4x4 Blazer? Or is it going to be in the way of the transmission or something else?

I have the y pipe and would like to bolt it on if it fits and then just have the muffler shop just add the pipe and muffler.

I would assume it would fit. The exhaust should be the same (2 or 4wd) at that point. Just don't let the pipe be any smaller (larger would be ok) than the Y pipe ya got. And avoid as many drastic bends as possible. I know most people don't like the dumps at the rear axle if they do a lot of deep water scuba-wheelin, but I don't like a floppy tail pipe danglin like my Dad's stud, "Thor"!
