Question about CV Shafts

Well I have a 1994 chevy that I believe needs new shafts.  The 4 wheel drive is toast so I have to replace the T-Case but it still makes all kinds of noise in 2 wheel drive.  I have a buddy that has a set of shafts for a 2005 and I wondered if those would fit mine.

There is about a 1% chance of them fitting.

If you have access to both sets sit them next to each other and see.

yea i highly doubt they would fit. you can find reguilt ones from autozone that have a lifetime warrenty. so if you break one your not gonna be out much. what exactly is the noise?

Well when in 4 wheel it sounds like the chain is slapping around in the t-case.  When in 2 wheel it's a grinding noise mainly when i turn right.

Probably outer cv joint but don't rule out unit bearing. When you turn right you apply a load on left bearing. If boots are torn on axles and grease is gone then axles are probably junk.Jack up truck, turn wheel to right and spin by hand while riding fingers on axle. You should be able to feel the grind in axle. Good luck.

Well bad thing is I have no Autozone up here.  Looked at NAPA and they aren't too bad.  Prolly just get R and L ones.  Then either rebuild my T-Case or find another one to replace it.  Can't complain though, trucks got 180,000 miles on it and this is the first major problem.

I believe auto zone will ship out to you from the web. That may be good to know if napa does not have the lifetime warranty

i dont think napa lifetime warrenties their parts. usually you want to stay away from lifetime warrenties on some parts because they are cheep and not as high of quality  as say a napa replacement part
