I have not owned a jeep but have owned an s-10.  All have a few draw backs and short comings.  But just a thought on a s-10.  From power companies to auto part stores and on and on have fleets of small trucks for service.  How many use s series trucks?  There is a reason but if you like your s-10 then use it and build it the way you you want.  I would go with another brand of small trucks myself.  The 4.3 does have the power you want if that is what you have in yours though.

thats wat im sayin. do a little bit of modifying to a jeep and its pratically unstoppable. for an s10 do do the the same thing you hav to do sum serious mods to it. which alot of us who us are vechile daily and have families dont have time/money to do it. If i did have the time/money would i do it? you bet your a$$ i would. your rite about uniqueness, but for the money that was put into it you could have bought a used jeep lifted it, but big tires on it, and all sorts of other mods.

would you guys quit your yapping!! Trying to find out which is better a jeep or s 10 is useless because their both sissy vehciles!! You guys need to step up to fullsize K5 blazer to see what a real off road truck is about: small block chevy, fullsize soilid axles, strong frame and drivetrain and much more room for big tires!!!!
solid axle chevys cant be beat
78 K5: 350 V8,700r4,np208, 8 lug D44 4:88, 14 bolt 10.5 4:88 with detroit locker and 35 inc parenelli jones dirt grip tires

LOL, sissy's huh!?
I own all three of the above and then some, the jeep is the king of the hill when it comes to 4x4'n
and as you can see a simple off camber snow covered hill...which the jeep can walk all over without thinking twice.
getting right down to it...the four door s-10 doesn't have much more room than the wrangler has with the rear seat removed, the others, long and short box can hardly carry/tow more weight than the jeep can either.
