I have a Ram 1500 with the factory lift (off Road) package. I know its only a half ton truck but I am constantly finding myself loading more weight then I probably should.  I have had 1 ton of fire pellets, fire wood, gravel, ect. and never load past the point of my leaf springs bottoming out, however this cant be good for my truck.  I cant afford a new 2500 or 1 ton so could I accually get a good piece of mind if I installed helper springs or air bags in the back.  Could I accually haul a ton of weight and feel comfortable about not breaking my ride if I were to do this?  What if I put 3/4 ton springs on the back? any help?

It would be a major PITA to swap to 3/4 or 1 ton springs because they are wider than the 1/2 ton versions.  I would look into a good set of overloads, or air bags.  Those are pretty much your only options, unless you want to have a custom set of springs made for your truck ($$$).
