Hmmm,  Good to know Craig Thanks for the info thanks all of you for the input.

I knew I should stay with the dodge for overall best truck but I am also trying to support good companies.  I have always been Mopar no matter who owned them...

OK, well im a chevy guy at heart but i had your concern for ,power, boost and towing. I am so happy with my ford its plain overboard. Yes the 6.0 liter in my oppinion is a *** to work on and my buddy who is a diesel mechanic for pintagore logging agrees after working on both engines hundreds of times and has the 6.0 and would throw it away for a 7.3 but its not horrorable just a little problematic! I have a 99 f-250 two wheel drive long bed crew cab superduty that i converted to a four wheel drive f-350 with a 7.3 with 674,000 miles on it...yeah i have many upgrades including a custom tranny with tripple loc torque converter, edge juice with attitude tuner, bully swamper injectors,k&n cold air intake, i took a turbo off a newer ford cause turbo was bigger than stock 99' garett and took off my dpf exaughst and went with a 4" sraight pipe turbo back which is illegal but gives 40% better fuel millage acording to diesel power mag. and also dont run a waste gate so my boost is not limited...max i have pushed 33 pounds hauling ass and my whole point!!! i still have had no engine problems after 600,000 miles with my 7.3 and its easier to work on then the 6.0 liter and with the straight pipe and upgrades millage with fuel is awesome!!! I cant notice a damn differance whether pulling 5 lbs. or 10,000 lbs. I has crazy torque!! SO I WOULD RECOMMEND THE FORD SUPERDUTY CLASS WITH 7.3 AND A FEW UPGRADES! the edge juice with attitude tuner has a great towing select button that will change your shift pattern and give you great torque!! THATS JUST MY OPPION   -DJ DIESEL

Great opinion Man!  Here is my question though I will consistantly pull twice the weight you not.  I like your facts and your mileage info.  The only bad part to what I read is what I hear will kill the engine,  All of those mods.  I know there is good and bad to it all but pulling 21k lbs is a lot and just more stress.

Thanks for bringing on great info to add.

im not a ford guy but i won't blame you for going with a 7.3 truck they are reliable motors but just now as powerful as the later motors..... DO NOT BUY A 6.0 ... they only have 4 weak ass head bolts to hold the heads on and ford has been fixing these things like IHOP sells pancakes... the 6.0 is just a badly designed motor..... serioulsy STICK WITH A CUMMINS or a 7.3 ...... im a chevy guy but for a late model HD truck i see no reason to go with chevy.... weak ifs and diesel that isn't all that great either.....

The only time i heard of the 7.3 get ruined is in diesel tractor pulls, and those setups are twice the boost i have gotten my boost up to....as far as lower end problems all the diesel shops told me im bullet proof with my set up...but yes it seems like your pulling some serious weight but ardvark towing has the same motor i have in their huge ass flat bed tow truck with out mods of course but i see your point 20,000 constantly is not a joke and one of those semi looking fords would be sweet but damn spendy......i just pull toy haulers. I put tripple load leafs in rear that i got given to me when i lifted it which helped with bed weight issues i had..let us know what ya get!!!

I was just thinking if you buy a new truck, buy a Ford but if you buy used buy a Dodge, cus if you buy used you won't be rewarding an automoaker anyways so just stick with what you already like.
