I just bought a 1986 jeep comanche 2wd with the 2.5 4cyl in it and the motor is knocking. Will a 4.0 directly fit or are there other mods neccesary? Also will the 4wd front end from a 91 jeep cherokee fit?

Short answer... yes and yes.

My truck has recently been described as both "Boring and Mechanical". And I love it!

Blazerboy is on to something, you could probably sell yours for $500 and pick up a 4x4 with a 4.0 for $1000. In the long run that would be the smartest way to do it.

haha blazerboy lol

ya i made the sad mistake of buying a rolling k5 chasis for 200
then realized: engine, fluids possible trans work and diff work
not to mention i still needed regular stuff: wheels tires and sound system

in short i picked the curreent k5 for 1200 and im alot happier

Blazerboy lol

Nobody said to not get another Commanche. I see them for sale all the time around here for cheap. Not as often as say an XJ, but there are still quite a few of them out there to be had for cheap.

yeah if you like that truck you like that truck

were just saying its easier, cheap and less wasted time you could spend at azusa
by selling it and buying the same model with all the options from the factory and build from there
