FRONT SPRING PERCHES

I do no that putting blocks under the front springs on a 4x4 are bad. But I have a custom built 1984 cadillac seville 4x4 that is a rolling advertisement for my business. I want to lift it 4 inches in front and back but do not want to make the ride stiffer. It is tubbed and 1978 blazer axles and equipment are grafted to the cad frame,it rides great know and do not want to change that. I want to weld new 4 inch sping perches and truss the axle to the perches. I do not do big four wheeling with this 4x4 car because it is for our business and it is very clean . I do have over 25 years of welding and fabricating and have gone through auto school and owned and operated a garage for 4 years before this new business I own and operate. What do you think of my new spring perches? Thank you, Ernest

You could build new main eye hangers and longer shackles to achieve the lift amount you are looking for. If it was me, I would not build taller perches. You will be putting a lot of stress on those taller perches, which will be farther away from the axle and I think you will give yourself more problems in the long run. Like I said, I would go with drop main hangers and longer shackles. You could look into having your spring packs re-arched or maybe an add-a-leaf.

Just to put my $.02 in, I agree with crazy4ink. Blocks are bad, and tend to look bad. If this is a show car, you should go another route. I would actually consider both dropping the spring mounts AND different springs. You can get custom made springs for very little cash, say about $400. Made to the dimensions and spring rate you want.

EZ, either fab ub some new spring mounts on the frame, like the guys have suggested. Or if you are trying to net 4" of lift, without sacrificing ride quality, then There may be another way. I would look into a 6" softride springpack for a 78 Blazer. Then, take the bottom-most spring out of the pack so that the ride height actually drops. This will get you the nice cushy ride with the amount of lift you want.

Yes that would work great. I thank everyone for there feedback. That is something I might look into. What if I went with a sway bar dis, and put bags in?
