Hey any suggestions of good quality snow/mud tires for a 1989 stock ext. cab short box chevy. I want to stay with either 35" or 33" tires. I'm on a small budget of under $500. Any suggestions ??

Well, the problem with a dedicated mud tire, like the BFG or Bogger or TSL is that they aren't siped.  Which means when it comes to wet asphalt or icy & snowy conditions, you may as well be driving on roller skates.  If you are just the occasional wheeler, who gets into a little mud once in a while and lives where it snows, then in my opinion, you need to be looking into an all terrain tire.  I have had great luck with the Pro-Comp all terrain.  50K mileage guarantee on ANY vehicle plus they have a road hazard warranty that covers off road damage to the tire.  They are also one of the few true all terrain tires that has the severe weather rating stamped onto the side of the tire.  Not to mention you can usually buy 3 and get the 4th for free.  Check out www.4wheelparts.com   good luck.

You may look in to the Firestone Destination MT also.

Well MW, my suggestion would be to look for an agressive tire that has some siping as well.  A few that come to mind are the Pro-Comp mud terrain, the Cooper Discoverer STT and the Cooper Discoverer ST.  While the Pro-Comp and the Cooper STT are mud tires with siping integrated into them, the Discoverer ST is more of an extremely aggresive all terrain.  I have also heard very good things about the Toyo mud terrain, and how well those tires wear on fullsize rigs.  I don't know about their tread pattern and siping though.  Of the tires I have mentioned, the Discoverer ST would be my first choice.

Check them out here:
