actually my brother and i have found it a lot easier on his 98 k1500 to take the front bolts outta his bed and loosin up the back ones and just tilt the bed... it beats droppin a full tank. he is on his 6th fuel pump. the last time we changed it it wouldnt run at all so we change all sensors on the motor and put brand new spyder injection in. the did timing chain and the was the problem...

It seems to me that your fuel pump is not holding pressure for an extended period of time. that is why it will start up again right after you shut down the engine. What happens is that as time goes on the O- rings inside the pump thus allowing the pressurized fuel to leak out through the lines.
