Moly rings are the better choice for multiple reasons. First, they break in much, much sooner which will allow you to run a synthetic oil sooner and better protect your moving parts. Secondly, they will last a helluva lot longer due to being made out of much stronger material. I always run moly rings in any engine I rebuild.

cast is softer than moly and will seat faster, if I am not running a performace motor I will use cast every time. moly take longer to seat but, they willlast 10 times longer

Bandyk is right on the break in times, I had a brain fart. Moly take longer to seat and break in, but they are def worth the money. Once your rings start to go bad, your compression goes down the tubes and you may as well rebuild. Spend the extra $ and get the moly rings.
