I have a 1995 Silverado 4wd and I lost a u-jiont the other day and it cracked the end of the trans. were it bolts to the transfercase adapter. My trans. is good, I looked for another trans. or just the housing, I was going to pick one up but when I got there he said that the ohm would be different for the silniods inside, Dose anyone know of what years will swap into my truck. It has a 4L60 in it that has a 4 bolt paturn at the rear and it dont have a center top bolt in the bell housing and is a one piece houseing, and the motor is a 5.7. Thanks

your probably better going through a scrap yard like LKQ to get a transmission if the transmission housing is cracked its pretty much done. you can also try ebay or craigslist.com. you can go to the dealer or call them and they will tell you what year vehicles use the same transmission as your truck, you just have to give them the VIN.

Try talking to a tranny shop. They might be able to sell you a case and put all your parts in it since your trans is okay.Don't get your hopes up but it's worth a try. Good luck.

1986blazer: try craigs or ebay LKQ blows
I've had pretty good luck with LKQ in the past, didn't seem to bad. Maybe a little expensive, but besides that not too bad...

talked to the guys from the tranny shop today, Thay said to just change out the housing ( some gasket you have to replace ) price was $650.00. If thay had a housing out back it may be $100.00 cheaper. Is that a fair price. I've never evan looked inside one before. I can fix anything else on my trucks, it just sucks to have to reliey on some body to fix your truck. I'm going to learn how, at that rate It may be good money, Or it is $1100.00 for standard rebuild. Does this seem about the going rate????

If you have over 100,000 miles on your trans and your wallet can withstand it you would be better to go for the rebuild. $1100.00 for carry in rebuild doesn't sound bad.If you can't swing rebuild than $650.00 with case isn't unreasonable.Of course $550.00 is a lot better if they have case. This way at least you know what you are getting. If you go yard it's a pot shot at what you get. If it was your only option is one thing but it's not. Good luck.

If your game on trying it yourself Google transmission manuals and scroll to transmission parts and kits. I'm not saying for you to rebuild yours because you would need special tools but to take your parts out of your case and put into new case might be up your alley. The manuals show you everything to do and don't cost that much. Buy it just to see.
